I had quite a cool birthday really. I've eaten five times my body wight in cake and chocolate, not to mention the amazing bangers *veggie* and mash I had. My lovely Friends made me a Bon Jovi Birthday card and even quoted me in it: "He's the only man on earth who makes leather trousers look good" =D I got 260 quid in total from friends and relatives =D Cue shopping spree! I'll probably spend it all on books, CDs and chocolate. I do need some new clothes though. One of my friends put a somewhat rude joke in my card:
Woman goes into the doctors for a consultation. At the end she says: "By the way, my boyfriend has dandruff" The doctor replies: "That's fine, just give him head and shoulders" Then the woman says: "How do I give shoulders?"
I got some clothes and a couple of books including The Liar by Stephen Fry. I also got new art equipment but it's really no use, I'll never be any good at it. I can have fun trying though =D
Thanks to everyone who sent me a birthday message *dustball rolls across screen* *cricket noise in the distance* =(

Thank you Google! I can't take credit for these, that goes to ladynorbert Thanks for letting me steal these, it looks really cool. I have the book in my pile waiting to be read. It looks pretty fantastical and stylised. John might just have the coolest hair ever here, very Eraserhead! Hope you like.
I have a sort of tanned colour birthmark on my left arm (like where the funny bone is) and it is oddly enough in the shape of the British Isles. I would love to show picturage, but I'm not graced technically wise, so I'll have to apologise now to those who are visual learners. It's very well defined, with Cornwall jutting out, and a faded Ireland which has a small sliver of ordinary skin colour separating North and South. A little fact; when I first realised how cool my birthmark was, when I was about seven, I thought it was an omen that I would someday, be Queen. Please, don't ask...
Had a fun weekend lolling about in the sunshine at the Godiva Festival, where we took up residence by the cider tent. Great fun - including getting very wet during a sudden downpour, but it was lovely when the sun came out again.
Tonight I'm going to see the Goo Goo Dolls in Nottingham. They're one of Ian's favourite bands and I quite like a few songs so I said I'd go along. It should be fun.
I had to go to the doctor again today because that lump in my armpit is still there although it is not sore anymore. For the first time in my life I had to have a breast exam (not horrible, but very clinical, and I feel I've been poked and prodded a lot today). I've been given another round of antibiotics and if that doesn't work I'll be referred to the breast clinic. I really hope the drugs work this time!
It's been a bit quiet here since the end of the 3rd series, and I know there aren't many of us - the online fanbase isn't huge from what I can tell - but I'm curious to know what other people think of Doc Martin. What I really want to ask is what episodes are everyone's favourites.
Mine is "Haemophobia", by far. Apart from the Martin/Louisa thing coming to a point, I think it wraps up the first-series storyline about the Doc's blood phobia really well, since it started in the second (?) episode in. I like that we see his vunerability and his courage under fire in the same hit. I'm disappointed that they didn't continue to use Peter through series 2 & 3 in a way I thought they would be after "In Loco", though.
malaheed informs me of the reason for the diversion this morning. Guess who had not noticed that it was the third anniversary of 7/7 despite her morning bus taking her past the site of the Torrington Place bus explosion. The buses we glimpsed down the side streets were probably carrying survivors and families to the memorial service, including a colleague-by-phone of Malaheed's who is currently raising money for land mine victims.
The bus driver could have let us know what was going on, though.
